Who is Luke Matheson? The Rochdale starlet reportedly interesting Manchester United and Liverpool
Rochdale's youngest ever player is reportedly catching the eyes of Premier League giants Man Utd after a man-of-the-match debut display.
As far as first days at school go, Luke Matheson had one to remember.
The 15-year-old got Year 11 underway at Manchester’s Trinity High School on Tuesday - before becoming Rochdale AFC’s youngest-ever player after school.
Matheson, an academy product at Spotland, came on as a 13th-minute substitute and was named man of the match in Dale’s 2-1 win against Bury in the Checkatrade Trophy.
In doing so, he beat Dan Adshead’s record to become Dale’s youngest-ever player at 15 years and 336 days.
And now, as if Matheson’s fairytale start to life as a footballer could not get any better, Manchester United and Liverpool are rumoured to be interested in his services.
The Daily Mail report that Matheson - who goes to the school Danny Welbeck attended - is on the Premier League giants’ radars, and it will come as no surprise to Rochdale manager Keith Hill, who described the youngster’s showing as “outstanding”.
